Shapeshifter -2- is the fortieth chapter of the Delicious in Dungeon manga.
Summary[]
Marcille, Chilchuck, Senshi, and their doubles begin to cook, with Laios observing them. The fakes and the originals work together. Laios begins by observing the Chilchucks. Chilchuck "B" asks Laios for help, and Chilchuck "A" gloats that the fake revealed itself because Chilchuck has a sense of pride. The others note that Chilchuck "A" seems too mean.
Next, Laios observes the Marcilles. Marcille "B" protests against using harpy eggs in their meal, while Marcille "A" states that while she isn't happy about it, she's willing to do anything to help save Falin.
Finally, Laios talks to the Senshis. Marcille speaks up, and states that Senshi "B" looks unnaturally handsome. Laios and Chilchuck wave off her concerns, stating that Senshi has always looked handsome.
With the meal finished, Laios still doesn't have a good idea of who the fakes are. He states that he believes Chilchuck "A", Marcille "B", and Senshi "A" are the real ones. Fighting breaks out among the originals and fakes, and Laios heads out into the tunnels to find what is controlling the shapeshifters. Laios then gets on his hands and knees, and does his best impression of a hunting dog. The fakes then dissolve into leaves, and the controller of the illusions reveals itself as a large, white beast. Laios jumps at the beast, weaponless, but Marcille blasts it with her magic before he is hurt.
Laios then tells the others how he was able to spot the fakes. The party then enjoys a meal, but Senshi notices that the bag of provisions has gone missing. The party then follows a trail of rice to find the provision bag, only to see that no one is there. They then hear a scream from the end of the line, and see that Marcille has been taken down by Asebi, who orders them to drop their weapons.
