Appearance[edit | edit source]
Chilchuck is a Half-foot with light skin, short brown hair, and brown eyes. As is typical of his race, he has the appearance of a young human child with large ears.
In his typical dungeon attire, he wears a padded vest and green neck band over a white shirt, brown finger-less gloves, black pants, and brown boots. He wears a black turtleneck shirt instead of his white one when the party sets up camp.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Chilchuck is shrewd and practical, rarely taking jobs from adventurers unless he is paid in advance. He is more open to eating monsters than Marcille is, but like her, draws a hard line at demi-humans. He generally goes along with whatever the party does, but can speak frankly when they do something that can get them killed.
His job as the party rogue puts him on edge, as failure to undo or avoid traps can lead his companions to immediate mortal danger. When his party members ignore his warnings, he quickly becomes agitated.
He prefers to keep his private life separate from his work, so he doesn't tell his party a lot about himself. This is consistent with his belief that the most common reason for party splits is interpersonal issues.
Abilities[edit | edit source]
Chilchuck utilizes his heightened senses to keep his party out of trouble. His field of expertise is in locating and disarming traps and picking locks. He also uses his sensitive hearing to detect the approach of enemies before his companions are able to. He appears to act as the party guide, finding shortcuts and remembering the different pathways through the dungeon. He is also good at making maps of the ever-changing dungeon as well.
He is also able to wield a bow and arrow with fairly high accuracy in finding its target. In spite of this, he does not consider himself useful in battle, regularly excluding himself when counting people able to fight. This appears to be due to thinking himself a hindrance to the others, as his small stature means he would always be running underfoot.
Relationships[edit | edit source]
Chilchuck thinks Laios is not normal. He does, however, somewhat reluctantly view him as the leader of the party.
Chilchuck views Marcille as "the friend who cannot shut up".
Chilchuck views Falin as "the girl who cannot say no".
History[edit | edit source]
Chilchuck was born in a small village in a basin northeast of the Island. For the last decade or so, he traveled around dungeons doing business - opening locks, acting as an interpreter, mediating and doing appraisals.
At some point, Chilchuck got married and had three daughters.
Chilchuck was caught and killed by mimics multiple times when he was a novice adventurer. He once was so wary of mimics that he forgot to check an ordinary treasure chest for traps. He had accompanied multiple parties before joining Laios' and saw many of them split due to interpersonal issues.
He also has a leadership position among the Half-foot population on The Island and often advises other Half foot individuals to run contracts by the guild before they sign. He charges a mediation fee for this service.
In the past, while in Laios' party, he was caught in a fire/oil trap, which he believes is worse than dying instantly.
