Couatls[1], or Quetzalcoatls, are a type of monster in Delicious in Dungeon. They are also referred to as Quetzalcoatl.[2]
Anatomy and Appearance[]
Couatls resemble gigantic pythons with feathered wings in pairs along their body.[1] The floral patterning of the one seen on the Island is likely the choice of the dungeon lord Marcille.
Much like snakes, they appear to have a long esophagus[3] with multiple folds, presumably to help them swallow their prey.[4]
Behavior and Weaknesses[]
Couatls are able to both swim underwater[5] and fly in the air.[4]
Couatls, like snakes, swallow their prey whole.[6]
Culinary Usage[]
There is currently no known culinary usage for couatls.
Trivia[]
- Couatl is a Nahuatl word meaning "serpent".[7] The form it takes here as a winged serpent appears to be based on the monster from the tabletop RPG, Dungeons & Dragons [8], which is based on the Mesoamerican deity Quetzalcoatl (Nahuatl for "feathered serpent"). The deity is otherwise depicted as a serpent covered in feathers but wingless [9] [10].
