Dungeon Rabbits (迷宮のウサギ Meikyū no usagi?) are a type of monster in Delicious in Dungeon.
Anatomy and Appearance[]
Dungeon Rabbits look much like wild rabbits at first glance,[1] but also have short blades that extend from their hind leg.[2]
They seem to pass round faeces.[3]
Behaviour and Weaknesses[]
Like rabbits, Dungeon Rabbits appear to live in burrows[4] and move around in groups.[5]
Dungeon Rabbits are very agile creatures.[6] They are also fairly intelligent, able to lead their victims away from safety before attacking[6] and gang up on potential victims by attacking from multiple directions.[7] In addition, they thump their hind legs on the ground when agitated, which also acts as a warning for other Dungeon Rabbits in the area.[8]
To attack their enemies, they use their agility to launch towards their victim's neck,[9][10] using the blade on their hind legs to cut it open[2] and leaving them to bleed out.[11] However, they are not particularly strong and can be taken out rather easily, such as via a simple explosion spell.[12]
Culinary Usage[]
Dungeon Rabbits can be prepared much like rabbits.
Dungeon Rabbits have been used in the following dishes:
Trivia[]
- The concept of a seemingly innocuous yet dangerous rabbit is possibly a reference to the Vorpal Bunny monster in the 1981 role-playing video game Wizardry (which was popular in Japan), or to the Killer Rabbit of Caerbannog from British comedy troupe Monty Python's Monty Python and the Holy Grail.[13][14]
- Dungeon Rabbits are referenced in adventure lore as mysterious but extremely dangerous creatures. The story goes that a group of veteran adventurers who would not be defeated by common monsters went deep into the dungeon, only for their corpses to be found decapitated.[3] When resurrected, they all said, "It was a rabbit..." and never entered a dungeon again.[15] This story is so well-circulated that merchants are able to sell armour with the claim that the wearer would be able to survive any encounter with Dungeon Rabbits.[16]
