Hag/Nightmare (山姥/夢魔 Yamanba/Muma?) is the nineteenth episode of the Delicious in Dungeon TV anime series.
Synopsis[]
While eating, Laios and his friends are ambushed by someone. It turns out to be the young servant girl who accompanied Shuro's party. She takes Marcille hostage and demands that the spell that was cast on her be removed. When Marcille asks what kind of spell has been cast on her, the girl removes her hood and reveals herself.[1]
Summary[]
Asebi, a Beast-Girl, reveals she is affected by two black magic curses which she demands Marcille remove. One was cast by Maizuru of Shuro’s party to ensure her loyalty to Shuro. Senshi makes cheese and mushroom risotto. Asebi ungratefully throws away the mushrooms. Maizeru’s curse summons a demon to kill Asebi but Senshi, upset by Asebi’s manners, kills the demon then lectures Asebi on wasting food. The second curse made Asebi a Beast-girl artificially by fusing her soul with an animal soul, the same curse that fused Falin to the dragon and has no cure. Laios is gladdened however as Asebi retains her sanity, meaning it may be possible to restore Falin’s mind. Asebi abandons her Beast-girl name Asebi and returns to her human name Izutsumi. Days later Marcille is affected by Nightmares, a monster that causes bad dreams and eventually death from exhaustion. Laios is able to lucid dream himself into Marcille’s dream where Marcille is running scared from a monster. Laios deduces it represents Marcille’s fear of her loved ones dying. Encouraging her Marcille is able to summon a copy of the sorcerers spellbook to give her courage, and to defeat the monster by bashing it on the head. Awakening Marcille only vaguely remembers a puppy helping her find a treasure. Laios reveals Nightmares are actually oyster-like monsters nesting in the horrified Marcille’s pillow, and are perfectly edible cooked in butter and soy sauce.
