Griffin Soup/Dumplings -1- (グリフィンのスープ/ダンプリング1 Gurifin no sūpu/Danpuringu 1?) is the twenty-third episode of the Delicious in Dungeon TV anime series.
Synopsis[]
Why is Senshi living in the dungeon and researching monster food? His past will be revealed. The young Senshi was once a member of the a miners' group. The mining group discovered a dungeon while exploring ruins and ended up getting lost in its depths. Running out of food, the wandering group is attacked by a giant bird monster, and one by one they are killed by the monster.[1]
Summary[]
Senshi and the Dwarf Miners realised they were lost in a dungeon. A griffin would kill one of them every day until only Senshi and two others remained, Gillin and Brigan. Away from the eyes of Senshi, a violent argument broke out between Gillin and Brigan. As the fight grew more intense, the griffin attacked the two, leaving Brigan dead. Gillin returns and claimed he had killed the griffin and fed Senshi its flesh to keep him alive, then Gillin left and never came back, suggesting the flesh was Brigan’s. Senshi escaped the dungeon but his guilt over potentially cannibalising Brigan drove him to begin hunting monsters trying to prove he ate monster flesh and not Brigan. Now, Laios convinces Senshi to face his fear. After eating the griffin Senshi doesn’t recognise it and shamefully admits it must have been Brigan. However, Laios deduces it wasn’t a griffin killing the dwarves, but a hippogriff, explaining the unusual damage to Gillin’s helmet. With Changeling Mushrooms Laios magically transforms griffin meat into hippogriff meat which Senshi recognises immediately, confirming it wasn’t Brigan. Free from his trauma Senshi feels able to continue on their journey. Unfortunately the mushrooms cause them all to switch species; Laios into a dwarf, Marcille to a half-foot, Chilchuck to a tall-man, Senshi to an elf and Izutsumi to a kobold. While searching for more changeling mushrooms to change back they actually find the door to move deeper into the dungeon. Kensuke surprises them by emerging from the sword to open the magically locked door but also awakens nearby gargoyles. Unable to fight in unfamiliar bodies they flee through the door and find themselves in a dwarven stronghold from the days of the ancient elf/dwarf war. With nothing else to do they make camp and cook hippogriff dumplings.
