Giant Parasites (ジャイアント寄生虫 Jaiantokiseichū?) are a monster in Delicious in Dungeon.
Anatomy and Appearance[]
Giant Parasites have a long, smooth, worm-like body and a mouth with a ring of sharp teeth.[1] They are approximately the size of an adult dwarf. They appear to have a digestive tract that spans the length of their body.[2]
Behavior and Weaknesses[]
Giant Parasites parasitize large aquatic monsters such as Krakens. Ordinarily, they will be content parasitizing their hosts. However, if their host dies, they may attempt to jump out and attack those nearby. They are fairly weak, easily killed by a well-aimed strike.[1]
Culinary Usage[]
Giant Parasites are edible after being cleaned and cooked, in a similar manner to eels.[3] They should not be eaten raw, as they can have parasites themselves.[4]
Giant Parasites have been used in the following dishes:
Trivia[]
- The Giant Parasite could possibly be an enlarged version of the Anisakis worm, a parasitic nematode found in raw fish, squids, cuttlefish and shellfish.[5]
- Ironically enough, the Giant Parasite that Laios ate did have an Anisakis worm which he ingested when eating a raw piece of the Giant Parasite. This is similar to how they have been implicated in human infections caused by the consumption of raw seafood such as sushi.
