Marcille (マルシル, Marushiru^?) is an elven mage and member of Laios' party. She hopes to find a way to create a safe dungeon.

Appearance

Marcille is an elf with long blonde hair and green eyes. In her normal dungeon attire, she wears a long blue dress with white pants, a blue cowl, a red choker, and sandals. She styles her hair differently every day.^{[citation needed]} She is taller than Chilchuck and Senshi, but shorter than Falin and Laios.^{[citation needed]}

Personality

Marcille is intelligent, principled, and loyal to her friends. Despite this, she can also be very high-strung and has a difficult time dealing with things far outside her comfort zone (such as eating monsters).^{[citation needed]} She has a lot of confidence in her ability to cast magic due to her background, and can feel lonely when she is unable to help the party with her specialty.

She can also feel a bit self-conscious when using dark magic, which she knows to be illegal, as shown with her nervousness when telling her other party members about her plans to revive Falin. When others look down on her for using dark magic, she has a tendency to feel extremely guilty about it, as shown when she faced Shuro's anger at the methods taken to revive Falin.^{[citation needed]}

She can also be somewhat naive, believing that friendships alone can keep a party together.^{[citation needed]}

When she's faced with things she doesn't like, she can be very short-tempered.

Abilities

Marcille appears to specialize in fire-type magic, relying mostly on explosion spells to defeat enemies. She is, however, able to cast other spells, such as stunning/flash spells, protection spells, and a spell that enables walking on water. Her healing spells are very quick and effective, although her patients tend to complain that the pain of healing hurts more than the wound did. She is also able to make protective wards against possession or being turned into a zombie. She appears well-versed in written magic as well, including drawing magic circles.

Her field of expertise, however, is the study of ancient magic/black magic. She uses this on two occasions: to bring Falin back from the dead and to dispel the magic holding the Lunatic Magician's miniature dragons together.

Relationships

Falin Thorden

Falin is Marcille's closest friend. She thinks very highly of Falin, calling her incredible and an angel because of her spell-casting ability and kind nature. She enters the dungeon again despite the party's dire circumstances because of how much she cares about her.

Laios Thorden

Although she is often exasperated with Laios' antics, she trusts him greatly as their party leader and friend.^{[citation needed]}

Chilchuck

A fellow party member, Marcille and Chilchuck respect each other's skills. Marcille, however, often frustrates Chilchuck by treating him like a child, due to his race's young appearance (despite his being a fully grown adult half-foot). She is also particularly interested in Chilchuck's personal life because he adamantly does not share it with the group.^{[citation needed]}

History

Marcille's father passed away when she was quite young. Her pet bird Pipi also passed away at some point.

Marcille studied as the best student in the Magic Academy, becoming the teaching assistant only five days after starting her studies there. She joined the research program specializing in dungeon-making, as she wished to create a safe dungeon, one where people could safely grow and harvest magic items, such as mandrakes. To that end, she joined a dungeonium-making class, where she met Falin. Although Marcille's dungeonium was textbook-perfect, Falin's went above and beyond expectations. When Falin showed Marcille how she made it, leading her to a dungeon she visited often, Marcille was grateful to her. They became fast friends because of it, and remained close throughout their time in the academy.

It is unknown when Marcille joined Falin's party, but she had expressed a desire to speak with the Lunatic Magician about the dungeon's creation.^{[citation needed]}
