Miscellaneous Monster Tales -1- (モンスターよもやま話 -1-) is the first Miscellaneous Monster Tales. It is included at the end of the first volume of Delicious in Dungeon. Below is a short summary on each section.
Walking Mushroom[]
The fascinating variations of Walking Mushrooms are discussed. Laios shows Marcille the diary of a man who ate Walking Mushrooms every day. She flicks through to the end, muttering that the last one better not be a poisonous mushroom, but it is instead Matango, a man turned entirely into a fungus. Marcille shouts at Laios that she'll never eat Walking Mushrooms again.
Slime[]
Slimes are explained to mostly be parasites of aquatic organisms. As the party eats, Laios relates a tale of a man who raised fish that all suddenly died due to their stomachs being full of tiny slimes, thereby putting his party off their meal.
Man-eating Plants[]
Laios expresses to Marcille his fascination with the ability of Man-eating Plants to capture a variety of different prey and belief that they could be useful to society. Marcille is not impressed.
Mandrake[]
The growth chart of a mandrake is shown. Chilchuck is informed by a mandrake farmer about the annual competition standards for the most human-like mandrake, though according to Senshi this makes them not as good to eat.
Basilisk[]
The hatchling and anatomy of a basilisk is shown. Laios speaks to Chilchuck on the general debate of where on the basilisk the dividing line between the head and tail is.
Living Armor[]
Laios explains his theory on the life cycle of Living Armor. The party walk away quickly as he comes to a conclusion on their reproductive habits.
