Tansu Floke (タンス・フロッカ Tansu Furokka), commonly referred to as Mr. Tansu (タンスさん Tansu-san[2], タンスじーさん Tansu jīsan[3]), is an elderly Gnome[4] scholar[5] and magic user researching curses and magic involved in the dungeon on the Island.[6]
He appears to be the advisor to the Lord of the Island on matters involving the dungeon.[7] He is married to Mrs. Tansu, who is also a scholar.
Appearance[]
Mr. Tansu is fairly short and has large ears sitting high up on his head and a large nose, indicating his gnomish background.[8] He has short, white,[9] curly hair that is receding, thin eyebrows, forehead wrinkles and nasolabial folds around his mouth, likely due to his age. He has hooded eyes and a square jowls, and wears a pair of round eyeglasses.[8]
When adventuring in the dungeon, Mr. Tansu typically wears an ankle-length robe tied at the waist with rope and soft, pointed toe shoes.[10] He also carries a small leather case with a latch around his neck, which appears to carry his book of notes.[5] In addition, he carries a pack with a bedroll on his back.[10]

Personality[]
Mr. Tansu appears to be a fairly arrogant person, especially in matters related to his field of knowledge.[8] He is unwilling to do things for others without some form of return,[11][8] and will actively place other people in harm's way in order to stay safe.[12] This is likely due to the fact he is able to perform resurrection magic and return them to life if need be, as he uses this argument frequently.[13] He is also somewhat impatient.[14][15] He does, however, show that he cares for those he holds dear - his wife, Kaka and Kiki[14][16] and to some extent Namari.[17]
As a scholar, Mr. Tansu is scientifically minded, not trusting assertions without evidence.[18] He is able to read elven script[19] and is familiar with the spells that they typically use.[20] He also seems fairly knowledgeable on nature spirits.[21] On the other hand, he appears to lack some battle sense, demanding that others fight a monster that they cannot reach.[14]
He is very much used to being in charge and telling others what to do.[22][15]
He appears to be prejudiced against elves,[23] with a strong desire to hold knowledge over them,[24] and biased towards dwarves.[25]

Mr. Tansu is able to use magic, such as teleportation,[26] healing,[27] and resurrection magics.[28]

Mr. Tansu is married to Mrs. Tansu, who is also a scholar.[5] They started dating while they were both attending university and even in their old age, Mr. Tansu still gets flustered when his wife shows affection.[16]
Namari[]
As much as he may use her as a shield, Mr. Tansu does appear to care about Namari a little. When she appears worried about her former party members, he suggests that she could 'go for a walk', allowing her to run off to their aid,[17] and later tells her she can stay with them if she wishes.[29] He also allows her to rest in his home when she becomes ill.[15] Namari, however, remains loyal to him and his wife and expresses to them that she wants to remain in their party.[29]
Kaka and Kiki[]
Mr. Tansu appears to care for Kaka and Kiki as much as they care for him and his wife. He is distraught when Kiki gets caught by some Tentacles, demanding that the others kill the monster quickly to save her,[14], calling out to her[30] and healing her first out of the injured people.[28]

- His favorite food is his wife's cooking as well as oysters.[1]
- His least favorite foods are radishes.[1]
- It is implied that Mr. Tansu and his wife are wealthy enough to travel by horse and carriage.[15][31]
