Ryoko Kui (九井諒子, Kui Ryōko) is a Japanese manga artist best known for creating the manga series Delicious in Dungeon.



From 2008 to 2012, she uploaded a fantasy comic by the name, "UORIR", on a personal website that was randomly updated. [1]

The Dragon's School Is on Top of the Mountain[]

Kui debuted with a collection of one shots under the title "The Dragon's School Is on Top of the Mountain" (竜の学校は山の上, Ryū no Gakkō wa Yama no Ue). It came out in March of 2011. [2]

Terrarium in Drawer[]

In 2013 she published another collection of one shots in "Terrarium in Drawer" (ひきだしにテラリウム Hikidashi ni Terariumu). [3]

Delicious in Dungeon[]

Since 2014, she has been publishing "Delicious in Dungeon" (ダンジョン飯, Danjon Meshi, lit. "Dungeon Food"), in the monthly magazine Harta (ハルタ Haruta). [4]


  • 2013, "Terrarium in Drawer" received the Excellence Award in the Manga Division at the 17th Annual Japan Media Arts Festival.[5]
  • 2015, "Delicious in Dungeon" received first place in the male category for Takarajimasha's "This Manga is Amazing!" 2016 edition.[6]
  • 2016, "Delicious in Dungeon" ranked first in 2016 manga ranking selected by bookstores in Japan.[7]
  • 2016, "Delicious in Dungeon" won first place in FreeStyle's "THE BEST MANGA 2016: Read This Manga!"[8].
  • Kui has received six Manga Taishō nominations for her multiple works, her last nomination was for "Delicious in Dungeon" in 2019.[9]


  • The art Ryoko Kui uploads to her blog consists of original content, Delicious in Dungeon doodles, comics, as well as fanart of video game-related franchises.
  • Kui previously uploaded art to a now deleted Tumblr account.
