Ghosts (霊, Rei^?), or Spirits, are a type of monster in Delicious in Dungeon.

Anatomy and Appearance

Ghosts are spirits of the dead that are trapped within the dungeon. They have the appearance of see-through humans with rotting flesh.

Behavior and Weaknesses

Ghosts seek warm flesh (including recently dead bodies). They will actively attack adventurers and attempt to possess them, becoming Ghouls when they die. When all the flesh rots off, the ghoul becomes a Skeleton, and when the skeleton eventually turns to dust, the spirit once again wanders the dungeon.

Since they cause the area around them to drop in temperature, that can be used as a sign to detect their presence.

They can be defeated using spells or holy water. High level clerics can dispel them with ease.

Culinary Usage

As ghosts are incorporeal spirits, they cannot be eaten. However, they can be used to freeze food and liquids, as they are very cold.

It is revealed that the spirits were originally residents of the Golden Village who attempted to escape the curse of immortality by fleeing the village. Unfortunately, they did not succeed, instead losing their physical bodies, slowly forgetting who they once were and being unable to return.
