Undines (ウンディーネ Undīne?) are a type of monster in Delicious in Dungeon.
Anatomy and Appearance[]
Undines appear to be sentient masses of water that can move about on their own.[1] In reality, they are a colony of microscopic water spirits[2] grown large enough to see with the naked eye. It is suspected that they are able to do so due to high concentrations of magical energy in the air around them.[3]

Behavior and Weaknesses[]
Undines attack by shooting bullet-like water jets at their enemies.[4] A shot from an undine is strong enough to make a hole in a stone wall.[4]
They are able to disguise themselves completely in bodies of water, making them difficult to detect.[5] However, if they absorb any colored liquid (such as blood), they can be detected as they will appear that color.[6]
If angered, they attack far more viciously than normal.[7] When this happens, one option is to wait for the angered spirits to die and be replaced by new ones. This will take approximately one week, as this is the lifespan of a nature spirit.[2] Staying out of reach on higher ground is recommended.[8]
Fire is apparently used to defeat them, though it is not made clear how.[9] Capturing and boiling them will kill them as well.[10] Some spells are able to destroy them by exploding them from the inside.[11]
Culinary Usage[]
Undines are high in magical energy and can be consumed in an emergency to replenish one's magical energy. However, they must be consumed quickly and in large amounts as their magical energy is difficult to absorb, with the majority excreted by the body. However, this waste may be somewhat mitigated by using the energy rich water to cook a meal [12]
Undine have been used in the following dishes:
Trivia[]
- Holm has an undine under his command, indicating that undine are a monster species that can be trained to follow orders.[13]
